  • CHSP 2025–27 Extension Survey – Service provider insights - Consultation report

    In November 2024, the Department conducted a 2025-27 CHSP Extension Survey with CHSP Providers. The intent of the survey was to: better understand the diverse perspectives, experiences and knowledge of all CHSP providers; understand how to best utilise the next few years to prepare CHSP providers to transition to Support at Home no earlier than 1 July 2027; and seek feedback on proposed changes and identify the most common provider concerns.   • Fact sheet: Summary of changes to new Aged Care Rules

    The Department has released a fact sheet - Summary of changes to the new Aged Care Rules. It provides a summary of key changes since the public consultation on the draft Rules. Following consultation, the Department advises that the new Rules give more detail on how the new Aged Care Act will operate from 1 November 2025. They plan to publish a final Exposure Draft of the new Rules soon, helping providers develop their processes and systems in time for the new Act. Click below for information.

    Message received from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing 4/6/25. The Australian Government has announced that the new Aged Care Act 2024 will be briefly deferred. The government will recommend to the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, that she proclaim the commencement of the new Act to be to 1 November 2025.     The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission provides e-learning modules for Aged Care Workers, self-service resources for educators. CHSP Providers and their workers can access the e-modules at no cost via the Commission's online learning platform.     The Department of Health and Aged Care is conducting consultation on the Modified Monash Model (MMM). The system was designed to improve distribution of health workforce in rural and remote areas where it can be more difficult and more expensive to access health services and doctors. In aged care, the MMM is used to allocate program funding and other supports for aged care providers in regional, rural and remote locations.     We encourage CHSP providers to complete the Dignity of Risk survey before it closes on 16 April 2025. Dignity of Risk refers to the right of individuals to make their own choices, even if those choices involve risk.     The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission are currently consulting on the New Financial and Prudential Standards - Closes 7 March 2025. New Financial and Prudential Standards will commence with the introduction of the new Aged Care Act from 1 July 2025. They set out the minimum requirements for good financial and prudential management for providers. They are also designed to manage risks to people receiving care and the public.     The Department of Health and Aged Care have released the Aged Care Wages - Stage 3 Historical Leave Liability - Tranche 1 Grant. The Grant closes 6 March 2025 and is to provide one-off funding to eligible providers to pay eligible aged care workers to take their leave entitlements at the higher rates of pay for Tranche 1 increases that begin to take effect from 1 January 2025.     The Department of Health and Aged Care have advised that the Integrated Assessment Tool (IAT) has now replaced the National Aged Care Screening and Assessment Form.
