The Prime Minister acknowledged that the conflict in the Middle East is affecting fuel supply and costs.

The Department understands that aged care providers and workers may be concerned about how this situation could impact services and work. The Department has advised that the National Fuel Security Plan is in place to respond to these impacts. According to the Department:

• Fuel continues to arrive in Australia
• The government is working with industry to reduce supply chain disruptions
• Efforts are focused on ensuring fuel reaches areas of need, particularly regional locations

The Department has confirmed it will continue to closely monitor the situation and will provide further information as it becomes available.

The Department has provided the following advice for aged care providers:

• If you are experiencing immediate service impacts, contact the Queensland Local Network for support and advice.
• If you require financial viability or business support, assistance is available through the Department’s Financial viability and capability support for aged care providers program.
• Please advise older people in your care to contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 if they need support.
