  • Volunteer training available

    Latrobe Community Health Service are offering free online training to CHSP Volunteers across Australia to support the ongoing aged care changes. This is an opportunity for your volunteers to gain skills and knowledge in the following topics. To register please send your volunteers details to adriana.pezzutto@lchs.com.au - Name | Email Address | Organisation | Volunteer role | Training courses you wish to complete. For online participants, your volunteer will be registered with their Training software ‘Litmos’ and a login will be sent to them directly to complete the training.     Manual Handling 7.0 (AU)

    This course covers important information about safe manual handling in the workplace. It describes the dangers associated with lifting, and more seemingly innocuous manual tasks, such as typing or sitting for extended periods. The course looks at ways to reduce risk when performing manual tasks, by identifying hazards and removing them through a risk assessment process. This course is responsive. Duration - 25 minutes

    Learning objectives -
    • Describe what is meant by manual handling
    • Explain the importance of safe manual handling and the risks associated
    • Explain your and your organisation’s responsibilities under health and safety laws

    The SAFE Files - Workplace Bullying 7.0 (AU)

    This course outlines how certain behaviours can constitute workplace bullying and may be against the law. It also explains some of the causes and impacts of bullying, how to respond to it and get help, and ways to prevent bullying occurring in the workplace. Duration: 25 minutes

    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety 3.0 (AU)

    Many Indigenous employees report being challenged about their identity or expected to educate non-Indigenous colleagues about racism and Indigenous issues. This course looks at how you and your organisation can take steps to make your workplace more culturally safe for First Nations people – and why this is so important. Duration - 35 mins.

    Learning objectives -
    • Describe cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
    • Recognise why workplace inclusion and cultural safety are so important
    • Acknowledge the historical and cultural significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and the impact of injustice and exclusion
