  • Final strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards (August 2025) are now available

    The final Standards will take effect from 1 November 2025 in line with the new Aged Care Act.

    Until then, the current Aged Care Quality Standards remain in effect.

    The final standards contain minor changes following the public consultation on the Aged Care Rules and the legislative drafting process.

  • Final draft of the new Aged Care Rules now available

    This release is to give providers time to develop processes and systems ahead of the new Act starting on 1 November. It is not for further feedback.

    The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing consulted on the draft Rules between September 2024 and made changes to the rules in response to feedb ack received.

  • Aged Care Sector Support and Development survey - closes 1 September

    The Department of Health, disability and Aged Care is seeking input from in-home aged care providers and aged care peak bodies on the design of the Sector Support and Development (SSD) program.

  • Consultation - Proposed mandatory training manual for volunteers - Closes 12 September 2025

    The Systems Strategy and Network Branch of Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, want to hear from volunteers, Volunteer Managers and providers who engage with volunteers in the aged care sector about a proposed mandatory training manual for volunteers.

    This initiative is part of the new Aged Care Act 2024 (which comes into effect on 1 November 2025) and ensures all volunteers have the skills and knowledge to support older people safely and respectfully.

    The Department of Health and Aged Care has engaged IHACPA - The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority, to come up with the service list prices for Support at Home.
