COTA Queensland CHSP Provider Update
In 2025, the Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Generative AI in Aged Care were developed by AI Adoption in Aged Care Workgroup, led by the Multicultural Communities Council of SA. They're a plain-English, Tier 1 document - a short guide for staff using everyday tools like ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, built around four principles. More than 120 organisations have adopted them since.
The June 2026 update adds a new operational layer - a quick-reference set of ground rules covering which tools are approved, what should never go into a public AI tool, when AI can draft and when a person has to check before anything goes out, and who to ask when someone's unsure. They're free for any provider to download and adapt.
Involve your team to develop your key guiding documents, and support the responsible use of generative AI.

COTA Queensland’s Sector Support and Development team believes every child has the right to be safe, to feel safe and to be protected from harm.
Guided by our organisation’s safeguarding framework, our team has completed a structured risk assessment of our sector-facing activities and undertaken targeted training to strengthen our ability to prevent, identify and respond to child abuse.
We are committed to acting promptly and appropriately if concerns are raised or disclosures occur, and to supporting safe practices across the sector.
