The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has updated the Data Exchange (DEX) guide for Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) providers to help you meet reporting requirements from 1 July onwards.

The CHSP DEX Guide provides guidance on entering data into the Data Exchange for activities funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. This document assists service providers to enter data in a consistent and compliant way that best reflects the program activity being delivered.

It includes:

• Part A - an overview of the DEX environment and guidance on using its functionality
  • Mapping the CHSP Grant Agreement to the Data Exchange Structure
  • CHSP specific usage of DEX functions
  • CHSP standard definitions for DEX Session reporting elements
• Part B - reporting requirements for each service group with examples.
  • Home Support Service Group
  • Home Modifications Service Group
  • Assistive Technology Service Group
  • Advisory Services Service Group

Please note that they have included the following statement in the guide - If there is any ambiguity or inconsistency between this guide and the documents comprising the CHSP Grant Agreement, which includes the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) 2025–27 Manual (“the CHSP Manual”) and the Data Exchange Protocols for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (“the CHSP DEX Protocols”), the CHSP Manual and CHSP DEX Protocols will have precedence to the extent of the ambiguity or inconsistency. Additionally, this guide aims to provide consistency on how program data is interpreted within program activities and support a consistent interpretation of the Data Exchange Protocols for the Commonwealth Home Support Program across commonly funded organisations. All technical resources associated with the Data Exchange are available on the Data Exchange website. This guide, effective from 1 July 2026, replaces all previous CHSP specific DEX resources on the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing website.
