  • Registered Supporters in Aged Care Quick Guide

The SSD Connect Alliance has created registered supporter resources to assist aged care providers, including CHSP providers.

It is recognised under the new Aged Care Act that every older person is presumed to have the ability to make their own decisions. Sometimes, older adults want extra support in communicating or understanding information, and this is where registered supporters can be nominated.

The resources below assist providers navigate how they communicate and with who, and who makes the decisions. Registered Supporters replace the "regular representatives" and "authorised representatives" categories.
