COTA Queensland CHSP Provider Update
This practical guide has been developed to support Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) providers to strengthen emergency preparedness and maintain continuity of care before, during and after an emergency.
Developed through a collaboration between Sector Support and Development providers including Council on the Ageing Queensland, the guide brings together trusted national and state-based resources, templates, checklists and video case studies aligned with the Aged Care Act 2024 and the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. The guide includes resources for providers, workers, older people, families and carers, with information organised across the three phases of emergency management: Readiness, Response and Recovery.
Whether you’re reviewing your emergency management plan, preparing staff for extreme weather events, or supporting clients through recovery, this guide provides a central place to access practical, evidence-based resources tailored to the CHSP sector.

COTA Queensland’s Sector Support and Development team believes every child has the right to be safe, to feel safe and to be protected from harm.
Guided by our organisation’s safeguarding framework, our team has completed a structured risk assessment of our sector-facing activities and undertaken targeted training to strengthen our ability to prevent, identify and respond to child abuse.
We are committed to acting promptly and appropriately if concerns are raised or disclosures occur, and to supporting safe practices across the sector.
