This video introduces you to the program and our partners, and what we're all about!
We use a range of sources to inform our statements and submissions and reports to Government. They include the things you have told us during our ongoing consultations, surveys, and in feedback on our programs. We also draw on research evidence, what we hear through collaborative work with other community organisations and the many committees, forums, and advisory groups we attend as well as policy and practice developments around Australia and the world to help us stay on top of the latest ideas.
No. We work with all representatives and parties to promote positive outcomes for Queenslanders. We are not affiliated with any political party.
We do our work both independently and through funded programs and projects. Some of this funding comes from the Federal Government, some comes from the State Government, and some comes from other sources. We maintain good working relationships with all levels of Government on the understanding that our advocacy and advice is, and must remain, independent. We won't accept any funding that requires us to support or promote a particular party.
One of the most important ways that we develop positions on issues and recommendations for Goverment is by listening directly to Queenslanders. Your voice matters! All the comments, concerns, and suggestions gathered through this consultation will be collected and analysed to help us assess our priorities and shape our recommendations. We will look at your contributions alongside all our other data to make sure we are as informed as we can be about the issues.
We are not able to cover every issue that arises. However, we will look at all the comments and suggestions that are raised and even if something is not included in our reports and recommendations it will still be used to inform our ongoing advocacy work with Government.
We have been a trusted voice for Queenslanders for over 60 years. We have seen a lot of Governments come and go over that time, and we have worked with each of them to get the best outcomes for all of us as we age. We are known by political parties and Government officials as an independent source of knowledge and ideas around issues affecting older people.
One of the ways we have been able to do this is by engaging with and advocating for the diverse voices of older Queenslanders and their communities. Your contribution is a vital part of that.
