As our understanding of what person-centred care means within aged care services takes shape, it is time to turn our attention to what delivering person-centred care means for governing bodies. The challenge for governing bodies is to broaden their thinking to the benefits of establishing authentic and supportive partnerships between them and older people receiving services.
 
The panel will discuss how they have reframed their thinking to incorporate a person-centred approach and the positive impact this has had on their decision-making.
 
The panel will share insights about:​

• how they ensure older people have opportunities to inform how they govern and operate​
• best practice principles to meaningfully involve older people​
• challenges commonly encountered when engaging older people and strategies that address them​
• how older people can support continuous improvement and sustainability
• how partnering with older people leads to deeper understanding of how to support the development of inclusive and safe quality care.
