Overview

The Aged Care Act, Rules, Standards and Code of Conduct include the right to culturally safe care, with particular regard to the care experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Our panel will explore the ‘why’ behind the cultural safety requirements, including the person, community and legal perspectives. You’ll hear about lived experiences, practical resources and advice you can draw upon to deliver culturally safe care in home, community and residential settings.

Panel:
Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner, Liz Hefren-Webb, will be joined by:

Fiona Cornforth, Head of Yardhura Walani, the National Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Research at the Australian National University and Member of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Advisory Council

Buddy Bell, Director of the Office of the Interim First Nations Aged Care Commissioner

Mel Metz, Deputy Commissioner, Sector Capability and Regulatory Strategy, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission

We encourage providers to join this webinar, ask questions and provide feedback. The live webinar will include a Q&A session and we encourage you to submit questions in advance via the registration form.
