Overview

Free full-day workshop for aged care and community health workers on recognising and responding to alcohol and drug concerns in older clients.

Are you working with older Australians in community or home-based aged care? This free, practical full-day workshop will build your confidence and skills to identify and respond to alcohol and other drug (AOD) related harm in older clients.

Alcohol and other drug use among older Australians is a growing but often overlooked concern. Older people face unique risks - including interactions with medications, chronic disease, and falls - that make early identification and supportive conversations particularly important.

What’s Covered

This workshop will help you to:

  • Recognise signs of AOD-related harm in older clients
  • Have effective, supportive conversations about AOD use
  • Know when and how to refer clients to appropriate support
  • Embed AOD awareness into your everyday practice

Who should attend

The training is delivered by experienced clinical educators and is designed specifically for workers in community and home-based aged care settings. No prior AOD knowledge is required.
