  • NDSS Webinar: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce forum

    Our National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce Quarterly Forums address key diabetes-related issues affecting First Nations communities.

    This forum - "Staying active to support your diabetes wellbeing" will focus on featuring expert insights reflecting the powerful link between physical fitness, mental wellbeing and social connection.

    The session will include presentations from:

    Trent Lyon

    Trent is a proud Yugambeh man of the Wanggeriburra clan and Primary Health Team Leader with the Deadly Ears Program at Children’s Health Queensland. As Australia’s first Aboriginal health professional to be both an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, he is passionate about advancing culturally safe healthcare and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

    Justin Morris

    Justin is an athlete wellbeing specialist, cycling coach, high school teacher, and former professional athlete. Since wrapping up his competitive career Justin spends his time being an ambassador for people living with Type 1 Diabetes, working in coach education, running his own coaching/mentoring business and teach Sports Science at Hobart College.

    Justin’s experiences in sport, psychology and education have guided his principles in coaching and mentoring prioritising a holistic approach for athletes and people living with T1D.

    Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions following both presentations or via the chat.
