The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety

Project Overview

We invited you to contribute to COTA’s response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and our ongoing advocacy in July 2020.

In March 2020, as part of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, the Counsel Assisting the Commission developed proposals for consideration in a redesigned aged care system.

During July 2020, COTA Queensland engaged with people living and working across Queensland to hear their views on some of these proposals, as well as the impact of COVID-19 on aged care. We invited interested Queenslanders to participate through an online survey and/or a series of virtual conversations. The survey gathered information about the impacts of COVID 19 on people receiving aged care services and their supports. The survey was open 6 – 21 July 2020.

The virtual conversations gathered information on the key topic areas of Informal Carer Support Services and Respite, and Care Finding in Local Communities. These virtual conversations were held on the 15th, 16th, 20th and 21st of July 2020 via Zoom video conference, with a Zoom test session on the 14th of July 2020.
